Whales

As evening wanes
By waxen flame and dreary cast
Dark oceans tide
Has crept alas

Shining mermaids seethe
Amidst sand duned reeds
Eyes seduce with gleam
As they try to breathe

I weary for my bed
And bury haunted head
Passing through dreams gate
Embracing Midnights fate

As cold steals soul
Whales of old
Guard the deep with ear piecing weep
Down Winter’s keep – where sea things creep

Silver moon winds blow
Beckoning creatures of old
And they hold stole
Or’ all you’ve known
